MalHavoc with [BuA]RaZ0rFaNg BU: Rumor has it that you went to college for something utterly unrelated to computer science, but still within the realm of generic geekdom. What was your major, and that motivated you to throw an expensive Canadian education out the window in favor of computers and gaming? MalHavoc: That's correct. I have an honours degree in Chemistry, which is obviously of little use to me currently. I've been doing Unix-related stuff since 1991, but I started doing Unix admin when I was working in Toronto as an industrial water treatment chemist (we had some HP/UX servers that needed some TLC), and then gave up chemistry for good when I got engaged. My fiancee (now my wife) was living in Halifax and I was in Toronto - someone had to move. She had a job that she really liked, so I packed up my meager possessions (thats a lie - I had this fugly orange plaid chair that I left in Toronto because it was infested with cockroaches) and moved back East. I started doing system administration and software development full time at that point and have been doing it ever since. Gaming was a natural part of sitting in front of a computer for hours a day, and Stomped was an extension of that too. I ended up involved with Stomped back in 1996 when Tactic put out a "Help Wanted" notice on the site.
