SilverIbex's High-Quality Terrain Tutorial

Unreal news for the original Unreal has slowed down to all but a trickle, but dedicated fans still keep life breathed into the bones of it.

SilverIbex

has released information on a revolutionary new way to make super-realistic looking Terrain in Unreal and Unreal Tournament, without killing framerates at all!

You do not need the latest GeForce or RADEON graphics card to enjoy nice looking large terrain based maps in Unreal. With this method of making terrain, you can achieve visual results on a low end system, comparable to some of the newer game engines.

You can even use this method for UT2004 maps. I gave the

test map

a quick spin and on my GeForce 6800 Ultra I got a framerate of 150 on average. He's released a

full tutorial

on how to do it, so if you're a mapper and still got these classics around, or even if you have the latest UT installment, take a look!
