Third Place: LawDogs

MSU Finalist Image LawDogs lets the player mosey around the Wild Wild West (the real West, not Will Smith's version...) The mod's two gamemodes let the player experience two common scenarios of the Ol' West: protecting your town from outlaws, and defending your gold from thieves.

What does your mod bring to the table?

Marshals and Outlaws of the wild west era.....TombStone Style! Clean up the towne of varmints and select your favorite weapons......

What do you plan to change or add for Phase III?

For this session there's been alot more implementation but there's one goal........to release a standard release of LawDogs for UT2004 which will include additional gametypes and characters.......and of course, the horse!

Will your mod be making the transistion to UT2004? If so, how has the transition affected your mod?

We already made the transition to UT2004 and it's going beautiflly........it's just a matter of time till we finish.

How did you react when you found out that yor mod had placed in the contest?

We absolutely got excited and definatley has given us a boost in productivity........

Forth Place Finisher: Infection

MSU Finalist Image Infection casts you as Will Clifton, a man trapped in a small town which is home to several scary creatures. Unfortunately, this mod is no longer in development because it was only a school project, and now school is done. Hopefully they got an A for this awesome mod.

Infection was unavailable for comment.

Fifth Place: Frag.Ops

MSU Finalist Image Frag.Ops pits a group of elite special forces against the miltia of many powerful corporations. In short, it is a realistic shooter with futuruistic teams.

What does your mod bring to the table?

Frag.Ops is the embodiment of fast-paced tactical shooters, designed for players who desire hardcore gameplay over realism. FO has pioneered several features new to first-person shooters like the AP system for extreme movement, highly interactive environments, and an intuitive weapon upgrade system. In the coming months huge innovations will be unveiled, aimed at redefining the entire tactical shooter experience.

What do you plan to change or add for Phase III?

Phase 3 will see the introduction of a "diet" version of the much-anticipated "War" gametype, which makes use of mid-scale vehicular combat in an objective-based environment. The difference between our Phase 2 and Phase 3 entries falls just short of a full redux of the entire mod from gameplay to graphics.

Will your mod be making the transistion to UT2004? If so, how has the transition affected your mod?

We have already made the transition to UT2004 with our final release nearing completion. The jump between games was a bit painful, as many things needed to be completely redone and many small things didn't work anymore. To the player, however, there will be no large differences except for the completely new HUD and menu graphics.

How did you react when you found out that yor mod had placed in the contest?

We were a bit surprised actually, considering how badly made our 1.1 entry was =P. However we think we brought some fresh features to the table and that's why we were recognized in the contest.
