Conclusions

So, why did I say this game will be misunderstood at the beginning of the review? It features a unique type of gameplay, not at all the Half-Life gameplay that many reviews seem to have expected from it. Unfortunately, because of NPC AI problems, that gameplay is not fully realized. If that problem were solved somehow, allowing full and accurate singleplayer squad based tactics in the terrific setting Digitalo has created, then the game would take on a whole new dimension. The game as it is now is good. It could be great. So we will see if this is fixable and revisit it in an update at that point.

But for now, I have to say this. I have seen some unfair reviews printed for this game and that's too bad, because some people won't even give it a shot. The game has style and plenty of it. Digitalo's level designers have a gift for creating fun and believable locations. The weapons (which will receive an audio upgrade in the next patch) are plentiful and very well done. The music is appropriate (if not short) and includes a music player for all of your .ogg tracks.

There are a wide variety of objectives to complete in each of the singleplayer missions, rescuing hostages, sniping on rooftops, knocking out generators, breaking open the floodgates, and even a little one on one action with an attack chopper! You may also find yourself taken prisoner and relieved of all of your posessions, fighting your way through a mental hospital, with drug laced needle wielding doctors, ready to stagger you to your knees. The ending battle is intense (don't worry... no spoilers!). If you can look past the spotty AI, you may just find yourself enjoying a little tour of duty in the Resistance.
