UT2003 2225 Patch & BrightSkins Add-On Released

After weeks of beta testing, a new UT2003 patch has been released. As well as the usual mix of fixes and improvements that we've come to expect from Epic, version 2225 also features the UT Classic mutator, which makes UT2003's weapons feel more like their original UT counterparts, as well as no CD checking, which means your CD drive is free to do other stuff while you're playing UT2003.

Epic have also released UT2003 BrightSkins, which, believe it or not, makes UT2003's player skins brigher, and also removes the players' shoulder lights. This mod is optional, and works client-side, meaning that installing BrightSkins on a server won't force everyone playing on it to use the brighter skins. After installing BrightSkins, you can enable/disable it through the Instant Action | Game Rules menu.

The full changelog since the last official patch (version 2199) is far too long to post here, so instead you can find it over

UPDATE: 11:00 AM EDT, QAPete - During my recent visit to Epic, it was stressed to me by several people that pro gamers, who may not have been happy with the original release of UT2003, should take a fresh look at the game after applying the 2225 patch. If you look at the changelog, you'll see that a lot of attention has been given to pro gamer comments in this patch. Epic believes that the changes made bring the playability factor way up, and hopes that those of you who may not have played UT2003 much since purchasing it will give it another try after applying the 2225 patch. You can grab the files from the BeyondUnreal Download System right now:
